My Purpose: Throughout my life, my purpose has been to intertwine the experiences and observations I’ve encountered with the eternal truths encapsulated within the Bible. Initially enrolling in Criswell Bible College for a brief study, little did I anticipate the divine detour that led to five transformative years, culminating in a degree and an honorary doctorate. I believe it’s God’s grace that has allowed me to perceive and comprehend these connections, and it brings me immense joy to share them with you. Perhaps these articles and illustrations will serve as a source of encouragement and strength, deepening your relationship with the living God and His son, Jesus Christ. In the Beginning: My journey into writing began unexpectedly in the late summer of 2001, when I penned my first article for a local newspaper. Surrounded by the vast expanse of a sheep and goat ranch in remote West Texas, the splendor of nature served as a constant reminder of God’s majesty. From the breathtaking sunrises to the awe-inspiring thunderstorms, each moment stirred within me a deeper appreciation for the creator. Despite the challenges, I persisted, diligently carrying my handwritten articles to the nearest newspaper office, until the day technology afforded me the luxury of a word processor. Today, my words reach over 40 newspapers weekly, a testament to the boundless opportunities God provides.
A Few Basic Beliefs: At the core of my beliefs lies the acknowledgment of one God, existing in three Persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ, the sole Son of God, sacrificed himself for our sins and triumphed over death. Guided by the inspired and inerrant Word of God, we believe in the inherent worth of every individual, though all have sinned and fallen short. Salvation and eternal life are attainable through faith in Christ, and as members of His church, we are called to proclaim His gospel and uplift one another. Ultimately, our faith rests in the promise of Christ’s return, when he will reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords for eternity. Through the living God revealed in His word and the embodiment of His love in Jesus Christ, we find hope, purpose, and redemption in this journey called life.
