I’ve come to believe that God has granted me the grace to perceive and understand these connections, and it fills me with immense joy to extend these reflections to you. My hope is that these articles and illustrations serve as a beacon, illuminating your path toward a deeper relationship with the living God and His son, Jesus Christ. Special recognition is owed to Reverend Jerry Fortune, whose compassionate guidance not only led me to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ but also nurtured my spiritual growth. The embrace of the First Baptist Church Dallas Texas has been a sanctuary where I’ve found solace and strength to continue my journey of faith.
The Genesis of Writing: My foray into writing commenced unexpectedly in the late summer of 2001 when I penned my inaugural article for a local newspaper. Set against the backdrop of a sheep and goat ranch in remote West Texas, the splendor of nature served as a poignant reminder of God’s majesty. From the resplendent sunrises to the awe-inspiring thunderstorms, each spectacle evoked within me a profound sense of reverence for the creator. Despite the challenges, I persevered, diligently delivering my handwritten articles to the nearest newspaper office until the advent of technology afforded me the luxury of a word processor. Today, my words traverse over 40 newspapers weekly, a testament to the boundless opportunities God provides.
Fundamental Tenets: At the core of my beliefs lies the acknowledgment of one God, existing in three Persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ, the incarnate Son of God, sacrificially atoned for our sins and triumphantly conquered death. Guided by the inspired and inerrant Word of God, we affirm the inherent worth of every individual, recognizing our collective fallibility. Salvation and eternal life are attainable through faith in Christ, and as members of His church, we are commissioned to proclaim His gospel and uplift one another. Ultimately, our faith rests in the promise of Christ’s return, when he will reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords for eternity. Through the living God revealed in His word and the embodiment of His love in Jesus Christ, we find purpose, hope, and redemption in the tapestry of our lives.
