Brother J’ Purpose

My purpose has been to share the ideas or things I saw or experienced in life and how they brought to mind principles or truths from the Bible. I enrolled in Criswell Bible College to study the bible for one year. But God had other plans as five years later I left with a degree and an honorary doctorate in hand. I believe God has let me see and understand these things and what a joy it has been. Maybe these articles and illustrations will encourage or strengthen you in your relationship to the living God and to His only begotten Son Jesus Christ. To get the full meaning of these articles I would encourage you to have your Bible handy and look up the scripture references that I have used. I personally read and study from the New American Standard Bible and all my scripture references came from that version. I have no problem with the King James or New King James versions. I do not say I have all the answers and maybe you will not agree but that’s okay. But I would encourage you to read and study God’s Holy word, The Bible.

Brother J’ Acknowledgments:

How can I say thanks to so many that have had a big influence on my life? My parents, grandparents, and family. Then those who had to put up with my ornery behavior in Sunday school or Vacation Bible School. Reverend Jerry Fortune came to my house and led me to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Not only that but he helped me to grow spiritually, and I can say not only did He preach the Word, but he also lived it. Also, he had to put up with me for so many years as a member of his church. All the wonderful people I have worked with or come in contact with over the years. I could not give enough thanks to Dr. Paige Patterson, at that time the President of Criswell Bible College, and my professors who have had such a great influence on shaping my life. They set such a great example of loving God, staying true to His word, and living for Him no matter what the cost. The First Baptist Church Dallas Texas where we served and attended. Where we were loved and could worship God.

A few basic beliefs:

We believe that one God exists in three Persons and one substance, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ is the one and only Son of God who died for our sins and arose from the dead (1 Corinthians. 5:1-8); that the Bible is the inspired inerrant Word of God – a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path (2 Timothy. 3:16); that every person has worth as a creation of God, but that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23); that forgiveness of sins and the promise of eternal life are available to those who trust Christ as Savior and Lord (John 3:16); that the church is the body of Christ on earth, empowered by the Holy Spirit, and it exists to save the lost and edify the saved (Ephesians. 4:1-16); and that Jesus Christ will one day return to earth and reign forever as King of Kings and Lord of Lords (1 Thessalonians. 4:13-18).

I believe in a living Holy God and He has revealed Himself through His Holy Word, the Bible, and in the last days through Jesus Christ.
